I am honored to be a speaker for the U.S. News STEM Solutions conference in Austin, TX on June 18, 2013. Our panel just had a conference call to prepare for next week, and I’ve learned that we will be the only group talking about holistic support systems for students of color. I will be talking about ways that UMBC has developed professional development programs for graduate students, and how some of those programs have been modeled or replicated by other schools. I will discuss PROMISE: Maryland’s Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP), and there will be plenty of time for Q&A. Dr. Carlos Rodriguez of the American Institutes for Research will moderate. I will join Dr. Benjamin Flores (Graduate School Dean, UTEP), Dr. Mark Rosenberg (President, FIU), and Trevor Greene (Principal, Toppinish High School, Yakama IndianReservation).
Please join us from 4:15 to 5:15 PM in Room 7 of the Austin Convention Center on Tuesday, June 18!
